Akinfeev is known for struggling to keep a clean sheet, he eventually was able to do so with 2-0 over Benfica.
In 2018, he is part of the Ru55ia squad for the FIFARCE World Cup 2018 Rusputin. He is able to progress the team to the quarterfinals, knocking out Spain on penalties, only to fell to Crow-atia to end the World Cup campaign on a high note.
